The body doesn’t understand meanings. It runs on chemistry. Just like a vacuum cleaner runs on electricity and doesn’t understand what it’s vacuuming. The body needs three basic instincts to be satisfied: sex, sleep, and food. A vacuum cleaner needs a clean dust bag, electricity, and a surface to clean.
The body is a bio-machine that runs on chemical compounds. What makes it different from a machine is the prefix “bio,” a different kind of fuel, and that’s it.
Am I simplifying it? Maybe, but am I really simplifying it that much? Let’s see.
The meanings our mind assigns trigger an electrical impulse in the body, which results in specific chemical compounds being released into the body, and the body reacts to them. The body has no understanding whatsoever of those meanings created by the mind. There’s simply an impulse, a shot of chemistry, and that’s it.
This is how the body releases emotions, which are its tools.
The body doesn’t understand why your eyes just became wet. It reacted to an impulse and then to a shot of chemistry. The body doesn’t understand that this is how, for example, an emotion called sadness was released.
It’s the mind that brings understanding, but it also spins the strangest stories. Instead of simply experiencing sadness with the mind and allowing it to be released through the body, we get: nobody loves me, I’m alone, everything always goes against me, and they lived unhappily ever after…
Do you understand?
The body is an amazing construction. It gives you the ability to experience through your senses and emotions.
That’s it. And yet, that’s so much.
You get to take part in the Adam, Eve, Kate, Tom, Mary, and eight billion other beings project only once, so make the most of this opportunity.
Rediscover. Create instead of recreating. And that’s exactly what you should use your body for.
Did I simplify it? Good. Good luck.
Thanks so much for reading.
