They switched me on at 5 a.m. today
Bzzzzzzzt… and I Am. Eyes open. A new day, new possibilities. Oh, I wonder what’s going to happen today?
Damn, it’s good. Really. They might not have switched me on at all. Nothing would have changed for me – I wouldn’t even know there was no power. Only the people around me would have had a problem, assumingthat they had been switched on. Ha ha. Amazing. What a ride.
So, it’s five in the morning. I checked the factory settings – everything’s in order. The system is running.
I got out of bed and thought, it’s a little cold, so I’ll light the fireplace. It’ll be nice and warm. And who said we had to sleep at this hour anyway? I had plenty of other thoughts too, but the main one was:I Am. And what am I going to do with it?
A brand-new day is here!
The same space in my home greeted me, yet somehow it was new. The same coffee machine, but the coffee tasted different. The same washing machine, but I tried a new program.
And it feels good. The fire is burning, it’s getting lighter outside – another day is rising, and yet it’s a completely new one. I’m rocking gently in my chair, wrapped in the warmth of the fire and the scent of perfect coffee, enjoying it as if I were drinking coffee for the very first time. And I smileto myself because I remember that I’ve heard this before, but I never really listened. Not until now, when I can see it, feel it, understand it – I am.
Thanks so much for reading.
