The most important thing is the idea.
An idea, a suggestion, an intention, a program, a theory, a concept, a guiding thought, an assumption – you can name it in lots of different ways.
Everyone wants to plant an idea in your mind, because that’s the only way to get your attention.
And once you direct your attention toward it, you begin to bring it into existence.
Once firmly planted, it begins to take on a life of its own – your life- because it’s your mind that creates an entire story around it.
And since you are every possibility, it becomes even easier.
A company wants to launch a new product – marketing starts a campaign.
A new movie is coming to theaters – trailers are everywhere.
The government has a new idea – the media promote it nonstop.
A peace campaign, etc, etc. A war, a pandemic, whatever it may be. Sun or rain, wind or snow – the media are always there to help.
Your partner wants something from you – they’ll repeat their idea as many times as necessary.
And when you put an idea into your own head, you reinforce it again and again and again, until “the Word becomes flesh.”
And that’s the point: the idea has to be yours. That’s the foundation. Otherwise, your mind will reject it.
But an idea planted in your mind, to quote the main character in Inception, “is worse than a virus or bacteria.”
So think about where you direct your attention, whose idea you’re supporting, and whether it really is YOURS.
